Iron Martian Requirements & Benefits

What It Takes To Be An IRON MARTIAN

"IRON MARTIAN" recipients must attain 90% of all scheduled weight & speed/agility workouts. 90% equals 56 total weight and speed/agility workouts starting March 18 to August 12. 

"IRON MARTIAN"helmet decals will be distributed to all recipients the 1st day of practice on August 12.

"IRON MARTIAN" recipients will always be 1st in line during the season for dinners, etc.

"IRON MARTIAN" recipients will not be required to set up or clean up before and after practice.

"IRON MARTIAN" recipients will receive a special t-shirt after the 1st practice for the season. 

"IRON MARTIAN" recipients will receive special recognition in each football game home game program.


Attendance tracking for "IRON MARTIAN" begins MONDAY MARCH 18TH.


Players attaining 47 workouts by July 19th will receive their "MARTIAN" helmet decal at the Alma Camp. 


Players who attain 56 workouts before practice on August 12th will receive:

  • Their "IRON MARTIAN" helmet decal the 1st day of regular practice.
  • "IRON MARTIAN" special 1st in line status through the season.
  • 1st in line status allows players to be first to load bus for away trips.
  • 1st in line status allows players to be first in line at team meals. 
  • 1st in line status allows players to be first in line to receive post game snacks.
  • 1st in line status allows players to be first to receive their equipment.

Minimum Standards for Player Safety

Attend 44 total weight & speed/agility workouts from March 18 until August 12. 


  • Completing a spring sport will be comparable to 25 overall dates towards the minimum standard. 
  • All players are expected to makeup the number of workouts short of the 44 minimum standard. 
  • Makeup workouts can be done at anytime through the summer or during the season. 
  • In season makeups will be held before and after regular season practices for those who fall short. 
  • Once a player achieve 44 total workouts he can be considered to play in scrimmages or games. 

Lifting Requirements

PLAYERS SHOULD BE LIFTING 3 DAYS PER WEEK!

  • Two Days with Coach Edwards on  Tuesdays and Thursdays for advanced weight training . 3:00- 5:00PM
  • One day with Coach Tommy Showerman our Strength & Conditioning coach on Monday and Friday 7:30AM - 9:00AM and/or Tuesday and Thursday 5:00 - 6:30PM.
