Coach Thomas Alward is one of the four cornerstones of Goodrich Athletics as he has been coaching at Goodrich for over 27 years. Not many programs still have a coach who has dedicated so much of his time and energy for so long but Coach Alward does it because he loves the kids. Coach Alward has been coaching for a total of 43 years, with his coaching career started at Flint Central becoming their Head JV coach then at his alma mater Burton Bendle. Coach Alward has not only been dedicated to Goodrich for almost 30 years, but he was a dedicated sales rep for Jostens for 35 years. Coach Alward is married to his high school sweetheart Darlene, they have two children Trevor and Jennifer. In Coach Alwards free time he enjoys watching the Detroit Tigers, golf, and of course spending time with his 6 grandchildren (Collin, Emma, Luke, Delaney, Neely, and Grady). A little something interesting about Coach Alward is he is a graduate of The University of Nebraska where he played on a National Championship team. Coach Alward was also drafted in the National Football League (NFL) to the NY Jets. He later signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaners. Coach Alward was the first player to ever sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Coach Trevor Alward has been coaching for over 22 years with positions at Parchment, Waterford Mott, and Goodrich. Coach Trevor Alward has been coaching with his father Tom Alward for 20 years in multiple different positions including: Linebackers, Running backs, Defensive Backs, Youth football coach, and founder of the Goodrich Youth Program. During the day Coach Trevor Alward is the Deputy Superintendent for Grand Blanc Community Schools. Coach Trevor Alward has been married to his wonderful wife Shannon for 17 years and have three sons Collin (15), Luke (12), and Grady (3). Coach Trevor Alward has his Doctorate from the University of Nebraska (same University his father Tom Alward graduated from).
Offensive Line / Strength & Conditioning Coach
Coach Bruce Edwards is a pivotal part of the Goodrich Football Program as he does more than just coach the offensive line, he works at the school, he drives buses for athletic events, maintains the athletic fields, and drives the football trailer to away games. Coach Edwards has a total of 32 years in coaching with 22 of them at the home of the Martians. He started his coaching career at his alma mater Flint Hamady, and coached football at Lake Fenton before making his way to Goodrich. Coach Edwards has not only coached football, but he has also coached Track and Powerlifting (which he started at Goodrich in 1997). Coach Edwards is married to his high school sweetheart Drew and they have four kids (Dana, Abbey, Scott, and Dominic). In the little free time Coach Edwards has he enjoys spending that time with his five grand kids.
Special Team Coordinator / Defensive Line / Tight Ends Coach
Coach Tomaselli (Coach T) has been coaching for over 11 years with 5 of those years here at Goodrich. Coach T started coaching in 2009 as an Offensive Line Coach at Burton Bentley, after three years Coach T was hired as one of the Co-Head Coaches at Burton Bentley and served as Head Coach for 3 years. Coach T recently accepted a new job as a Loss Control Consultant with Accident Fund Insurance. Coach T is a 2001 graduate of Goodrich High School and had the honor to play under Coach Alward from 1998-2000. Coach T is a newlywed, he was married to his wonderful wife Jessica on June 2, 2018.
Quarterbacks / Running Backs / Safeties Coach
Coach Rainwater comes to Goodrich with a total of 6 years of coaching experience, he started his coaching career as the Head Football Coach at Burton Bentley where he coached with Coach Tomaselli for three years. Coach Rainwater was also the Defensive Coordinator at Clarkson Everest for one year. Before Coach Rainwater started his coaching career, he played college football at Grand Valley State University. During the day Coach Rainwater goes by Officer Rainwater as he is a police officer for Oakland Community College. Coach Rainwater enjoys working out, coaching wrestling, his family, and chocolate. Coach Rainwater played for Coach Alward in 1996-1998 and lead the team with rushing yards. We are excited to have Coach Rainwater home. Welcome Back Coach!
Defensive Backs / Wide Receivers Coach
Coach Green starts his coaching career with Goodrich as this is his first year coaching high school football, this doesn’t mean he has the experience. Coach Green has a lengthy resume of experience, he currently coaches for 475 Elite (7 on 7 training facility), volunteered his time coaching youth basketball at the Boys and Girls club of Greater Flint. Coach Green played wide receiver and safety at Ferris State University, Tiffin University, and Albion College. Coach Green brings a lot of great experience and enthusiasm to Martians. In the little free time Coach Green has, he likes to spend time with his two daughters, working out, and playing basketball. Coach Green is the definition of hard work and dedication as he played college football and received two PRO Tryouts despite having only 1 ACL. The Martians are looking forward to having Coach Green on staff.
Linebackers/Running backs Coach
Coach Warren brings with him a total of 20 years of coaching experience with him to Goodrich. Coach Warren coached at Carman-Ainsworth where he was the Freshmen Head Coach and then promoted to the JV Head Coach, he was also the head middle school football coach here at Goodrich. Coach Warren is a Bendle Grad where he played Linebacker and Running back. During the day Coach Warren is the computer teacher at Carman-Ainsworth. Coach Warren is married to his wonderful wife Debbie and has three kids, with Matt his youngest on Varsity Football this year. In the little spare time Coach Warren has he enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, and being outdoors around sports. We welcome Coach Warren back to Goodrich and looking forward to the die hard work ethic he brings with him.
